Hurt a man and what does he do to you in return? Hurt you back, of course! If he does not have the means or capability to do it right away, he will at least nurture the grudge and you have yourself an enemy waiting for his chance to give you a taste of your own medicine. Help a man -monetarily, materially, physically- any which way that will change the man’s life only for the better, even if just for the moment, and you have yourself a friend who owes you a favour. If, for some reason, he cannot return the favour you are at least left with the feeling of goodness.
Here's an interesting ad campaign to end the war in Iraq. I know I am a bit late in the day, now that the US is pulling out of Iraq; nevertheless the ads are pertinent to every war and atrocity being committed today.
